Well it’s not often fashion has any beneficial effect on your health - it is usually quite the opposite in fact. But this season’s passion for chunky knit gets the thumbs up from us at Soothe.
You may not be aware of this, but we are in cahoots with Jack Frost. Indeed, he is a great salesman for Osteopathy. We should give him commission! So many back, neck and joint problems are set off by the cold weather. So it is essential to keep warm and exercise well so you don’t start to suffer. If you are prone to neck pain, it is important to wear a scarf in cold weather. It might sound very simple, but when you get cold, you hold your body tighter and your muscles become tight and eventually painful ...maybe even going into spasm. If you get low back pain, wrap an extra scarf around your lower back. Standing around at the bus stop at 7am, or a cold windy train station can pretty much send you into a back or neck spasm if you are not careful.
So when you Gran gives you your annual hand knitted chunky Bridget Jones style jumper this Christmas, be sure to give her a big thank you kiss!
